Digital Wallet Payment Types

Digital wallets such as PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay are becoming more prevalent payment options. Learn why you should offer digital wallet options to your givers and how they increase gift completion rates.

What is a Digital Wallet?

If you have paid for something online lately, you have likely noticed additional payment options beyond traditional credit cards or ACH. Digital wallet options let you donate without retrieving your wallet, swiping your card, or entering your credit card number manually.

Once your preferred credit cards or bank account have been entered and securely saved to a digital wallet, they are accessible with login credentials or facial recognition, allowing you to pay instantly anywhere that payment method is accepted. Convenience at its finest!

4 Reasons to Enable Digital Wallets on Your Giving Account

  1. Convenience

Your givers are ready to donate and have reached the payment section of your form. If they haven't signed in to their account, they will need to enter their credit card or ACH information using their mobile keyboard. This is not only challenging but also error-prone.

Digital wallet options like PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay require login credentials that users likely already have saved in their browsers. They can process the payment instantly and securely by simply tapping their pre-saved card, and their gift is processed immediately.

  2. Simplicity Increases Gift Completion

Gift abandonment occurs more frequently than you might think. By simplifying the payment process, more givers will complete their gifts. Whether it's a lack of time or getting distracted while retrieving their physical credit card, reducing friction helps increase successful donations.

  3. Security

Digital wallet platforms offer advanced security features, ensuring safe and secure transactions. Donors seeing these options in your giving form also builds confidence through the brand recognition these digital wallets possess.

  4. No Additional Cost

You can easily add PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay, and Apple Pay to your giving forms at no additional cost to your ministry. Your existing credit card processing fees are all that will be applied.

Note: At this time, recurring gifts are not currently available with Venmo (we are working on this feature request).
